Inspection of the electrical system is an important part of the home inspection process. If the home is old, there could be deteriorated unsafe electrical wiring.

photo taken during a home inspection shows electrical wiring in the electrical service panel that has deteriorated outdated unsafe insulation on the electrical wiring; the home inspector should remove the cover
on the electrical service panel to inspect the wiring.
This is an important reason why home buyers should retain the services of a licensed Professional Engineer to conduct their home inspection rather
than a non-engineer inspector (whether or not the inspector holds a license as a home inspector or not).
